Golden Memories: Celebrating 50 Years of Excellence

Golden Memories: Celebrating 50 Years of Excellence

In October 2025, we celebrated our golden jubilee, marking 50 years since we completed our engineering graduation. I am sharing my experience of this grand celebration event for the benefit of my dear readers.

A Day to Remember — 6th October 2025

The memory of 6th October 2025 will remain etched in my heart forever. As I stepped into the reception hall of Shri Ram International Hotel, Jodhpur, the atmosphere was electric — filled with emotion, excitement, and nostalgia. My heartfelt gratitude goes to my dear friends, the Managing Committee members, whose meticulous planning and tireless efforts turned an almost impossible dream into a magnificent reality.

After fifty long years, I found myself surrounded by faces once so familiar — now adorned with wisdom and silver hair. Recognition came slowly at first, until a simple “hello” from an old friend unlocked decades of memories. In an instant, the years faded away, and we were once again those spirited young engineers of our college days.

Meeting batchmates after 50 years was an experience beyond words. Though time had altered appearances, it had not diminished the warmth of our bonds. Hugs were tight, laughter was spontaneous, and conversations flowed effortlessly from nostalgia to the stories of our life’s journeys. We spoke of families, careers, triumphs, challenges, and the small defining moments that had shaped us.

Heartfelt thanks to all friends who shared thoughtful gifts — your gestures added a special warmth to an already memorable gathering

An Evening of Melody and Memories

Though Saroj and I considered taking a short break after lunch, it proved impossible amidst such joyous reunions. Every corridor, every corner was filled with laughter and reminiscence.

As evening descended, the celebration turned musical. A live band set the rhythm of the night, and the lakeside ambience came alive with energy and melody. The crescendo was reached when our own talented batchmates — both ladies and gentlemen — took the stage to showcase their singing talents, rekindling the youthful spirit of our college days.

Return to Roots — 7th October 2025

The next morning, as the sun rose over the familiar skyline of MBM Engineering College, nostalgia swept over us. Standing amidst the majestic stone structures and leafy courtyards, it felt as though time itself had paused.

The Golden Jubilee Celebration of the 1975 Batch was not merely a reunion — it was a journey through time, a reaffirmation of lifelong friendships, and a tribute to the values our alma mater instilled in us.

Walking through the old corridors was like leafing through the pages of a cherished book. Every turn revealed memories — of study sessions in the library, lively discussions in the common room, and the camaraderie of shared projects. The Vice Chancellor informed us about the new developments on campus — modern laboratories, new wings, and renovated facilities — yet the iconic main building stood unchanged, a proud symbol of continuity.

Moments of Honour and Reflection

The presentation of beautifully crafted mementoes was a heart-warming highlight. More than just tokens, they symbolized lifelong achievement and friendship. Sharing the stage with our spouses made the moment even more meaningful, reminding us that behind every success stands the strength of companionship.

The experience-sharing session, featuring reflections from seven of us, was both insightful and inspiring. One of the most moving segments was the felicitation of our mentors — Prof. Damodar Sharma, Prof. V.K. Bhansali, and Prof. D.M. Surana — whose dedication had shaped generations of engineers. The gesture underscored a timeless truth: education is a dialogue that transcends generations.

Inspirational addresses by the Dean, Vice Chancellor, and Dr. Gaurav Kothari (industrialist and 1968 alumnus) enriched the program with wisdom and perspective. Particularly heartwarming was the announcement that our batchmate Mahavir Kothari, the driving force behind the event, had instituted an annual scholarship of ₹10 lakhs for deserving students — a noble act that truly reflects the spirit of giving back.

Cultural Extravaganza — Rekindling the Youthful Spirit

The cultural evening brought back the zest and creativity of our youth. The students’ performances were enthralling, marked by grace, talent, and dedication. Adding to the joy, our batchmates recreated a revised version of our classic 1974 play, “Jeb Katre Hartal Par Hain.” The evening was a perfect blend of nostalgia, art, and celebration — a reminder that while time moves on, the heart never grows old.

A Scenic Sojourn — 8th October 2025

Our next stop was the enchanting Ranakpur, where arrangements were flawless from start to finish. Every detail — from travel to stay — was handled with warmth and precision, ensuring a truly delightful experience.

The gracious hospitality extended by Mahavir Kothari, Manjula Bhabhi, and their son Arpit left a lasting impression. Their thoughtful gifts and generous spirit made everyone feel deeply appreciated. The evening once again came alive with music, laughter, and togetherness — leaving melodies that lingered long after the night ended.

Fond Farewell — 9th October 2025

Our return journey was equally memorable. A delicious lunch at Pali, followed by a sweet surprise — Pali Halwa lovingly gifted by Prem Kishan Toshniwal — provided a perfect conclusion to this unforgettable celebration.

Gratitude and Reflections

As I reflect on these four golden days, my heart overflows with gratitude for all who made this milestone possible. My sincere thanks to the Managing Committee members — Mahavir Kothari, Narendra Meratia, Manohar Lal Jain, Ramesh Chandra Jain, Mahavir Chand Jain, Prakash Tatia, Prakash Chandra Mehta, Jugal Moondra, Arun Arora, Bhuvnesh Chandra Mathur, Ranjeet Mal Singhvi, and R.C. Singhvi — for their exemplary efforts, dedication, and teamwork.

The Golden Jubilee Reunion was much more than a celebration — it was an affirmation that bonds formed in youth can withstand the tests of time. We returned home enriched and inspired, carrying with us the echoes of lectures, the laughter of hostel life, the guidance of our teachers, and the warmth of enduring friendships.

MBM Engineering College gave us not only a degree but a lifelong community — and for that, we remain forever grateful.
